I’d like to invite you to the first meetup of a new interest group, based at the UT Health Science Center, for those with a “Professional Interest in Social Media”: for education, research, clinical care, community outreach, and more. This Interest Group would be an informal chance for professionals to learn from each other — online on this blog as well as in-person, exchanging questions, best practices, ideas and experiences. Although based at the Health Science Center, we’d love to include colleagues from UHS, VA, and other institutions in the San Antonio biomedical community.
The first meetup of this interest group will be Wednesday 27 April, from 2pm-3:30pm in
room 4.074 of the Briscoe Library room 110 of the Academic & Administration Building , on the Long Campus of UT Health Science Center, 7703 Floyd Curl Dr in San Antonio. At our first meetup,
- Bridgett Piernik-Yoder will look at some important social media users in health sciences education,
- I (Luke Rosenberger) will look at uses of social media by CTSA research institutions, and
- Jeanette Ross will talk about her experiences with the #HPM weekly tweetchat.
Please see http://twtvite.com/prism for details and to RSVP. Hope to see you there!
[Update 2011-04-19: based on the RSVPs we have received, we needed a larger room! So we have updated the location of the event.]
